To put that into quantitative terms, for every kg of weight lost, the brain cranks up eating drive by 83-101 calories (kcal) per day.

In contrast, the GLP-1 drugs semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound) reduced this brain response by about half, to 48-49 kcal/kg.

This recent study by Kevin Hall is awesome.

It investigates the impact of different weight loss methods on the 'lipostat'-- the body fat regulatory system in the brain that opposes weight loss efforts.
