Based on Scalameta download numbers, Scala is very much alive and growing. Scalameta projects get ~22 million total downloads/month, with ~2 million downloads for scalafmt-interfaces alone. Download numbers are flawed, but these are respectable numbers even for npm standards.

@channingwalton Igal Tabachnik I look forward to using Direct style when writing scripts and tools. Monadic style will continue for the foreseeable, for server work. I don't see the problem. Has anyone said that Direct Style poses an existential threat to Monadic effects? Both flavours can exist, can't they?
