Porpoise are a frequent sight at Dungeness. 8+ off the point yesterday evening were very close inshore and frequently coming up to surface.

The recent warm weather has produced some exciting local mothing but autumn is just around the corner- Centre-barred Sallow this morning was the autumnal harbringer. A Jersey Mocha in another Dartford garden was an excellent record. Dartford VC16.

Adonis Blues stole the show today at 2 sites in NW Kent - simply dazzling! Plenty of back-up though with Small Heath, Small Copper, Chalk-Hill Blue, Silver-spotted Skipper, Brown Argus and Autumn Ladies' Tresses.

Day on the Downs with Tom Wright enjoying all the downland gems: Blues all over with Adonis looking pristine, Silver-spotted Skippers aplenty! We stopped in our tracks when two Wart-biters jumped from the grass!! 🤯 Autumn Ladies-tresses rounded the day off nicely

Centre-barred Sallow, (Atethmia centrago), was new for year in our #Yorkshire garden last night.

Another trip to Sandwich Bay for Scarce Blue-tail Damselflies was again successful, with 6 males and 1 female located this afternoon. A quick look at Oare on the way home produced 2 Spoonbills, Greenshank, Curlew Sandpiper and many other waders in some lovely early evening light.

Patch gold this morning successfully twitching 16 Cattle Egrets at Botany marsh, Swanscombe SSSI. My first for the site.

A very pleasant evening yesterday at Arne RSPB provided excellent views of Sika deer (including the white stag) and a hunting Little Egret with it's reflection in still conditions. With Mark Hows

Plenty of dragonflies in the New Forest yesterday - Southern and Small-red damselflies, Golden-ringed and Southern Hawker. With Mark Hows

Lots of great plants in the New Forest yesterday: List in ALT text. Yellow Centaury was tiny but awesome, a very pale Autumn Ladies Tresses located with Field Gentians and lots of Graylings amongst the heather.

Some moths from the garden trap in the last week. Burnished Brass, Rosy Rustic and a worn Small Ranunculus. Dartford VC16.

After 28 species on Friday night, 42 species last night was a welcome upsurge. Highlight was the annual but eagerly anticipated Palpita vitrealis. Dartford VC16.

Great night in the garden with 45 species including NFG Porter's Rustic, Delicate, the season's first Black Rustic and the recent arrival (third year in a row) Heath Rustic. Dartford VC16.

1997 myself and Barry Wright missed a Cory's shearwater off Dunge by 5 minutes. Today off Shellness all that was laid to rest when we had a bird off the Hamlets, joined by Gary Howard . Awesome!

Great day on Sheppey with Barry Wright - juv Red-Footed Falcon, Pectoral Sandpiper, Hobby, 18 Brent Geese, 250 Sandwich Terns, Arctic Skua, Little Owl and a few Cattle Egrets.
