If an offensive lineman is promised $750k in a school revenue-sharing contract as a reasonable payment for his #NIL and not pay-for-play (HAHA!), then he and similar athletes should be able to receive roughly that amount from #NIL collectives, right? It's "fair market value," no?

As I said to Amanda, determining ‘fair market value’ for #NIL deals is subjective and could lead to disputes between athletes, businesses, and this new clearinghouse operated by Deloitte. Required contract submission could also violate confidentiality clauses.

This feels like 5 years ago. States standing in the way of the NCAA and conferences seeking to restrain trade. College sports “leaders” often think they’re the smartest in the room. History says otherwise.

As I told Amanda Christovich, I've spoken with a handful of college coaches about the memo distributed by conferences that would prevent schools from suing to challenge new #NIL rules. The general consensus is that it’s a shitshow—and going to keep me busy.
