UU's supposedly Derry-based medical school is now advertising jobs that will be located in North Belfast. When will the Stormont parties accept the Royal Irish Academy's recommendation that a regulatory body be set up to oversee Higher Education in the North?

Odd boast. This policy is also known as transference and follows a decades-old UU policy of ‘incubate, replicate and eradicate’. (i.e. grow in Derry, copy to Belfast, then close in Derry.) Already this week, Derry Med School jobs are being advertised for Belfast.

Loyal Belfast will be doing it 'on the cheap' when King Charles calls on his tour of remembrance. Unlike London's St Paul's, Edinburgh's St Giles and Llandaff Cathedral in Wales, St Anne's dispensed with its world-renowned professional choir in July. #KingCharles #MatthewOwensUK

Important when being critical of reps not speaking out that we recognise people have called for accountability over uni provision and faced roadblocks. Cllr Farrell has spoken out on this issue many times. As mentioned earlier, so have PBP, Independents and Aontu.

Train wreck interview from UU on BBC Radio Foyle this morning, trying to explain away why they can't increase numbers in Derry to more than 6000. Peddling the old lie 'students are free to go where they want'. Not if you starve the campus of resources and courses for decades. 1/3

What's happening currently to Radio Foyle is the Belfast-Derry relationship in microcosm. The isolation of the North West - no university, no new roads, the closure of railways, shipyards and now our radio station - is deliberate. It must be challenged. irishtimes.com/ireland/2022/1…

Great piece in this morning’s Derry Now on our new billboard campaign. DUG’s Conal McFeely asks why are other Irish cities set to grow over the next 20 years, while Derry is set to shrink? A university we run ourselves will restore our voice and reverse the trend, he says.
