Sept. 14, 1994: 30 years ago today, Bud Selig announced the cancellation of the remainder of the season, leaving the #expos & their fans distraught. The Expos were 30 games over .500 when the strike began Aug. 12. You can blame both the owners and players for that mess.

Remembering the late Jim Fanning, who was born Sept. 14, 1927. He died April 25, 2015. He was a jack-of-all trades for the #expos from 1968-1993.

Happy birthday today to Curtis Brown. He appeared in one MLB game. That was with the #expos May 27, 1973. He played the whole game in left field and went 0-for-4. At least, he got a taste of the Big Show.

Sept. 14, 1974: 50 years ago, Larry Lintz went 3-for-6 with 4 RBI as the #expos whipped the @pirates 17-2, courtesy of a 17-hit attack. Mike Jorgensen hit a two-run homer and Willie Davis doubled three times to support the pitching of Dennis Blair and Chuck Taylor.

Today is Roberto Clemente Day at MLB ballparks in honour of No. 21. Team nominees for the award bearing the Great Roberto's name will be introduced, including @bluejays P Chris Bassitt. Roberto played Triple-A for the Montreal Royals before his stellar career with the @pirates.

Happy birthday today to Dan Smith. He pitched for the #expos in 1999, 2002 and 2003.

Happy birthday today to Doug Simons. He pitched in seven games for the 1992 #expos.

Happy birthday today to Don Carrithers. No. 75. He pitched for the #expos from 1974-76.

Sept. 16, 1974: Jerry White and Gary Carter made their MLB debuts with the #expos. Jerry went 0-for-2 and Kid was 0-for-4.

Sept. 16, 1979: Dave Cash hit a grand slam as the #expos beat the @cardinals 5-1 in Game 2 of a doubleheader at the Big O. The place was rocking. 59,282 were on hand.

Wishing the very best to @timraines30 on his 65th birthday today. Rock played for the #expos from 1979-1990 and then again in 2001.

Sept 16, 1976: Canadian Larry Landreth of Stratford, Ont. threw six scoreless innings and walked six to get the win in his MLB debut with the #expos. His career in the majors was short but he will never forget that first game.

Happy birthday today to Mike Garman. No. 75. He pitched in 47 games, all in relief, for the #expos in 1978.

Sept. 16, 1976: Jose Morales of the #expos got his 25th pinch hit of the season to set a MLB record. Read all about it in my book Explosion.

Sept. 17, 1993: Deaf player Curtis Pride drilled a two-run double as the #expos beat the @phillies in the heat of a race for the NL East title. 45,757 gave Pride a standing ovation that he couldn't hear but he could feel the vibrations of the cheering. Spectacular moment.

Cool fact: Bobby Wine played his entire big-league career of 1,164 games under one manager: Gene Mauch. 731 with the @phillies, 433 with the #expos. It's Bobby's 86th birthday today. All the best.

Remembering the late Wayne Krenchicki, who was born Sept. 17, 1954. He died Oct. 16, 2018. He appeared in 101 games for the 1986 #expos.

Sept. 18, 1993: #expos lost 5-4 to the @phillies but Wil Cordero's three-run homer to deep left-centre in the 8th sent 50,438 at the Big O into a frenzy. Broadcaster Rodger Brulotte shrieked, "Cor-dero, Cor-dero, Cor-dero.'' * @Clifffloyd30 was 0-for-1 in his big-league debut.

Remembering the late Tony Scott, who was born Sept. 18, 1951. He died May 28, 2024. He played for the #expos from 1973-75 and again in 1984.
