Lumpfish season is really kicking off in the Huntsman Marine labs, look at the hatch we had overnight!
And another one in collaboration with Wiseman Ecotox Lab, where we looked at the mechanisms of 6PPD-quinone toxicity in fathead minnows. Liver and gills showed marked differences in response. New publication out from the Huntsman Marine team examining the impacts of temperature on the toxicity of polycyclic aromatic compounds! Very interesting implications for both oil spill models and climate change doi.org/10.1002/etc.57…
Check out our new preprint on “Toxicokinetic Characterization of the Inter-Species Differences in 6PPD-Quinone Toxicity Across Seven Fish Species” led by Toxicology Centre, University of Saskatchewan MSc student David Montgomery biorxiv.org/content/10.110… U of Saskatchewan Global Institute for Water Security
Part of the continued work at Huntsman Marine , bridging the gap between toxicity data and oil spill effects models with our favourite model species - the lobster 🦞
Presenting some of the periwinkle snail work completed by the Huntsman Marine team at the #CEW2023 conference in Ottawa today! The righting assay we adapted is showing a lot of promise as a rapid screening test for hydrocarbon contamination
A shipment of red abalone has arrived safe and sound at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre! Looking forward to working with these neat critters in the upcoming weeks!
