I drop my son off at nursery and leave him in the care of Louise Casey. I rush to the station and catch a train driven by Louise Casey. I pick up a coffee. The barista is a nice young man. He hands me my cappuccino and says "The beans were roasted by Louise Casey."

"The government is to delay publishing its long-awaited overhaul of SEND provision in England as ministers seek to build a coalition among parents to support its changes" No surprise if true, given the strength of feeling of MPs at the recent debate. theguardian.com/education/2025…

Breaking: The schools white paper will be delayed until 'early in the new year', government has announced today, as ministers take more time to draw up controversial SEND reforms schoolsweek.co.uk/schools-white-…

Good that ministers aren't rushing into the wrong reforms, and that they want to hear about families' experiences. We're ready to talk to ministers any time about how families navigate the SEND system and what needs to change.

Before buying, in my 8 years renting hell, I would've benefited so much from a s21 eviction ban and other measures in the Renters' Rights Bill Lots in the Bill, which completed its last Commons hurdle today, will make a hugely positive difference for millions of renters

There's pros and cons to this - good to take more time to listen, as no one wants half-baked reforms. But I imagine those who have been living through the system for years will be sick of delays & getting flashbacks to last gov. It took 1,274 days to publish their green paper

How does the delay to White Paper and SEND reform fit with the Budget next month? Presumably the reforms will require investment and so have implications for the Treasury…

Vic Goddard (@vicgoddard) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You can’t save money and solve the SEND issues. It needs to be invested in. Training. Increased EHCP funding. More specialist provision and support. A proper forum for parent, carer and student feedback. A system that properly gets ahead of the child at last

Though anti-Jewish hate has become far too normalized, incidents like these still shock me. The waitress in a cafe in Germany refused to serve Israeli customers because she claimed that their Hebrew was the language of the oppressor — in other words, Antisemitism 101.

Delaying the White Paper is the right move but there needs to be consultation with people on the ground, notably school leaders & SENDCos. There also needs to be a full acceptance that this requires money. A lot of it, wisely spent.

When we consider the current issues in education I think it’s all too easy to forget that Sir Kevan Collins was clear that education needed £18bn plus as part of the post Covid recovery plan & that this didn’t materialise

City University offered Professor Ben-Gad paid leave, & has given him extra security for his lectures. That's admirable, but these are ultimately defensive measures that do not address the root cause of the problem. Unless these students are expelled, this issue will continue.

Did not find this vote easy. (My vote is through a Labour affiliated organisation as I haven’t renewed my membership since the Corbyn times led me to cancel it).

Another delay to long awaited SEND reforms, but Adoption UK welcomes the commitment to consult further with families. We will continue to advocate for adopted children, half of whom have SEND. Send reform in England pushed back to 2026 - BBC News

London has stopped building. Work started on just 4k homes in the past year in a city of 9m. To get London building again, MHCLG have announced a series of reforms including: - Anti-density rules like the requirement to 'maximise dual aspect' have been removed. - Excessive
