135,000 Github projects mention "blazing fast" in the readme, but only 3,000 of those mention "benchmark" or "MB/s". So in other words, when you read "blazing fast" think "unserious".

There is an insidious idea that has crept into software through the open source movement, which is that software no longer being modified is "abandoned". It's very possible - even desirable - for software to simply be "finished". To serve its purpose reliably, as a tool should.

Github needs this notification option Tired of getting pinged every time a random person adds their two cents to a Github issue I follow.

Why is building other people's code always such a nightmare? The fragility of build systems and native code compilation is a huge failure of the software industry. The only time I've ever had it *just work* was using zig build on allyourcodebase/box2d.

I like this comment in the source of /usr/bin/dtruss. It provides context with a "Hey dorks, don't mess with my code" kind of energy.

The iPadOS 26 cursor switches between light and dark based on what’s behind it, but it’s often wrong. If only there were a way to draw a cursor so that it‘s visible on any background. 🤔
