A decent first day in the Vendee, France with 2 Black-winged kite, 2 Hen Harrier, 6 singing Nightingale, Black Redstart, 3 Zitting Cisticola, 2 Woodlark and 2 Cuckoo being the highlights.

Great day birding in France, north of La Rochelle today with 2 Osprey, 5 Black kite, Hen Harrier Bluethroat, 2 Hoopoe, kentish Plover, 7 Black-winged Stilt and 2 Stone Curlew being the highlights.

A good crossing this afternoon Caen - Portsmouth. 1 Great Skua, 9 Common Scoter, 81 Guillimot, 30 Razorbill, 4 Fulmer, 4 Kittiwake, 35 Gannet, 21 Sandwich Tern, a pod of Common Dolphin and a pod of Harbour Porpoise.

A nice surprise over at Barnham brooks this afternoon in the form of a Spoonbill. Also 1 Greenshank, 3 Redshank, 2 Little-Ringed Plover, 17 Little Egret, 1 Great White Egret and singing Whitethroat, Reed and Sedge Warbler. Sussex Ornithology Sussex Birding

An excellent day in the New Forest seeing almost everything I set out to see including Southern Damselfly, Small Red Damselfly, Keeled Skimmer, Roseate Tern, Goshawk and Lesser Butterfly Orchid.

A nice visit to Thursley Common today. 2 Redstart, 4 Tree Pipit, 2 Silver-studded Blue, 3 Downy Emerald and a Viviparous Lizard.

A nice morning around the Las Américas golf course with plenty of Canary, 4 Berthelot's Pipit, 3 African Blue Tit, Black-crowned Night Heron, Glossy Ibis, Cattle Egret and 5 hoopoe.

Probably the highlight of my holiday to Tenerife was a Hoopoe having a fight with a Praying Mantis (phone video)

Had a lovely evening with a Little Owl in Sussex today. Sussex Birding Sussex Ornithology

A nice first few days away in northern Portugal with highlights being Griffon Vulture, Booted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Rock Bunting and Crag Martin. As well as 12 species of butterfly and 4 species of Dragonfly.

A pair of Honey Buzzard gave some exceptional views today in Northern Portugal.

Last day in Portugal gave brief views of Pied Flycatcher and sublime views of Rock bunting.

Impossible to get bored at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.

An excellent day on Isle of Sheppey with extraordinary views of 11 Short-eared Owls, 4 Hen Harrier and a Drake Smew that briefly landed in front of Counterwall Hide at Elmley NNR before flying off.

A nice long weekend away in Scotland.
