Fantastic couple of days fieldworking with Daniela Krebber & Robin Battison installing sensors on Scots pine #trees in the #Cairngorms. We (Forest Research) are collaborating with @tommaso_jucker to build a European mountain network to understand the impacts of #ClimateChange

Exciting days in the field. Forest Research Scientist Tom Ovenden Dr. Tom Ovenden is collaborating with @tommaso_jucker, Daniela Krebber & Robin Battison to install sensors on Scots pine trees in #Scotland, part of a new European mountain #forest network to understand #ClimateChange

In this new Nature Communications paper, led by Aida Cuni-Sanchez & Martin Sullivan, we use ForestPlots and GBIF @biodiversity.social/@gbif data to demonstrate #thermophilization in three Afromontane #forests— tree communities respond to #climatechange by shifting their species composition. nature.com/articles/s4146…

We’ve all seen how wind can change the shape of trees, but how does wind impact tropical forests? Our new paper answers that question using purpose-built sensors in Barro Colorado, Panama. When counting trees becomes rocket science. Stunning 2nd talk at the inaugural Late Nights @ Life Sciences, part of University of Bristol Biological Sciences 10th Anniversary @tommaso_jucker explains how lasers in space & field ecologists combine to track the global fate of trees selvalab.org
