Sat w/a student who always gets to school late. Discovered he takes 2 buses & that he didn’t know what time he needed to be @ 1st bus stop in order to be punctual. I printed the schedules & helped him figure it out. Told him I wanted him to be on time. Next day, he arrived early.

Sometimes, kids make bad choices. Sometimes, they really screw up. We hold them accountable... but we can also extend some grace. They need to know we still like them. They need to learn a lesson... but it is never constructive when they feel alienated from us.
