An incident occurred where the doors were opened on the wrong side of the train. No fault was found with the train. From the info available I am struggling to see a good reason for these trains to remain grounded. We need transparency and answers from Nexus, not waffle.

Just completed the entire Tyne & Wear Metro network in 4h0m. Started at the Airport at 10:49, finished at South Shields at 14:49. Probably not a record time but considering I didn’t rush, I don’t think it’s bad!

You could bring those services under public control now by making them Nexus secured services. But of course the facts don’t matter when there’s local elections in 3 days time…. You’re choosing not to save those services when you have the power to do so for political reasons.

Am told that the new Tyne & Wear Metro trains are returning to service this afternoon. With this happening the day before the local elections no doubt the mayor will try to claim this as a personal success of hers, even though the reality is that she’s had sod all to do with it.

People banging on about an ‘invasion’ is exactly the sort hate filled rhetoric we can expect more of with Reform doing well. Stark reality is though that this election needs to be a wake up call for the other parties, especially Labour, otherwise we could have PM Farage in 2029.

Would love to know why, with three trains missing from service today, why four old Metro trains have been sent for scrap in the last week. Surely if there’s not enough trains to run the service you need to be keeping old ones longer? Photos attached of two that looked complete.

.Tyne and Wear Metro Kim McGuinness can we have a formal statement on the Metro train shortage please? 7 trains are missing today, a quarter of the timetable, passengers deserve answers. And is this because too many old trains have been scrapped before enough new ones are ready?
