I joined Twitter way back in early 2007. I’ve seen all the changes, all the fail whales. I don’t always enjoy it here, but it’s been a huge influence on our online lives. Watching the tweets of Twitter staff finding out that they don’t have a job anymore is awful. Fuck that guy!

Somewhat related, this week I subscribed to Casey Newton’s Platformer, and I feel like I have a front row seat on the whole mess. This feels like what journalism should be.

Something else despicable about the toxic work before the Twitter layoff that I just realized: he knew he was going to do this, and still set it up so people would pitch and scramble on all their ideas for profitability in an attempt to keep their jobs. Just gross.
