3. That’s *six* more nominees added to the backlog from just *two* Senate committees; many other committees continue to approve nominees at the same rate This problem isn’t going to go away on its own The Senate must address this aggressively

4. We have no business taking a recess while this growing backlog persists If the Senate takes a recess without clearing the backlog—which it should *not* do—it must not hold “pro-forma” sessions every three days, as those prevent presidents from making recess appointments

5. It would be passive-aggressive folly for the Senate to take August off without first clearing the confirmation backlog

6. Even worse, any decision to recess—bad enough on its own—would inflict even more harm if the Senate then held pro-forma sessions every three days, preventing President Trump from using his own authority to clear the backlog
