Blue skies, great weather for gardening. DSGG wishes to thank Dalry Burns Club for a donation of £200 to refresh both of their planters at the station.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Happy St David’s Day….tomorrow.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 The volunteers emptied the old Train Planter ready for the arrival of a new model. Cleaned and sterilised the Bird Feeders ready for a batch of nestlings. No proposal of marriage for the male volunteer….yet!!

🍀Happy St Patrick’s Day on Sunday🍀 ☔️Plants dripping with rain.☔️ Usual tasks of litter picking, weeding and bird feeding today.

Plenty of colour in the station garden this morning; Tulips, Pulmonaria, Forsythia etc. Latest advice is to Love a Slug!! They provide food for all sorts of creatures and are part of the natural balance. Earth Hour takes place on Sat, 23 Mar 2024, 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

Thank you so much Edna and Ken for the very generous donation of garden tools. A nice morning for gardening at the station and lots of Spring bulbs in flower. DSGG had a great away day to New Lanark.

A new Train Planter has been delivered, secured and planted. Plantlife Request Join our No Mow May™ movement. Don’t mow this May and let it grow! Provide a feast for pollinators, tackle pollution, reduce urban heat extremes, and lock away atmospheric carbon below ground.

A gorgeous warm May day for working in the garden. Thank you Simon for the donation of grasses.

Lots of colour in the garden and Swallows have arrived.

Gorgeous day and lovely station, lots of interesting wildflowers and wildlife. We shall start working on the relocated planters at the top of Lovers’ Walk in the coming weeks.

There has been an explosion of colour and rapid growth in the garden.

Sprinkled Wildflower seeds on an area where we had suppressed the weeds and grass for a year with a tarpaulin and old tyres. Covered another area of grass with cardboard and tyres in preparation for next year.

Volunteer Week 3rd - 9th June. Dumfries was the host station today for the adopt-a-station volunteers. DARG members gave an excellent guided tour of the beautifully tended gardens and told us of their plans for future. We had lunch in the Station Cafe and visited the Museum.

The two Planters at the top of Lovers’ Walk adopted by DSGG. Blackbirds, Thrush, Bluetits and resident Jackdaws were all busy with nestlings this morning and the bees were having a nectar feast. 👀 Look out for our new signs.

The Train Planter is looking very smart with a fresh coat of paint. New signs DSGG has stencilled around the station area as a gentle reminder.

Grasshoppers and butterflies busy on the bank of Oxeye Daisies, Musk Mallow, Knapweed and Buddleia today.

Nice display of well watered Gladioli and our own Trevi Fountain 😂 Thank you once again Ken and Edna for the generous donation of garden equipment. And to Phyllis who purchased a variety of annuals and perennials with money left at the station.

A splendid warm and sunny day for gardening. September marks the start of the autumn fungi season. And we have plenty of brambles and crab apples.
