A male Red-tailed bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius) on a Michaelmas daisy (probably Aster amellus). Michaelmas isn’t until September 29th, so Michaelmas daisy may in fact not be the best name for them. 🐝🪦🌳

gofundme.com/dalryfriends There’ll be a trial at the end of October. I’ve increased the fundraising goal to account for the legal complexity of the case. I’ve been encouraged to write about my experience of autism and the cemetery, so that’s something I’m working on. Winter work

Borage (Borago officinalis) is also known as starflower, and is particularly good for bees because the flowers refill with nectar very quickly! 🐝🪦🌳

The Burying Ground of D & J Chesney: David and Janet Chesney were the final residents of The Real Mary King's Close, a historic street in the city centre. This is the first and only instance we’ve found where a woman’s name is included in this manner at the base of a monument. 🔍🪦🌳

We have very fixed ideas about what constitutes a pollinator, or an “important” insect. Bees aren’t the only pollinators, flies and wasps are important pollinators also! 🌼🪰🌳

Did some very ordinary litterpicking on Sunday. Sometimes it’s nice just to wander around and remind myself why I fell in love with Dalry in the first place. ❤️🪦🌳

A male white-tailed bumblebee. Usually the three white-tailed bumblebee species (Bombus lucorum, magnus, and cryptarum) are very difficult to distinguish from the buff-tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris), but the yellow face is a helpful clue in this case! 🐝🐝🐝

The Egyptian Door to the Dead at the Grange Cemetery is perhaps the finest example of the Egyptian style in Edinburgh. It was executed by sculptor Robert Thomson, who is interred at Dalry Cemetery, where he completed various monuments including his own. ✨🪦🌳

Putting primer on the new Little Free Library, can’t wait to get it installed! It’s bigger and better than the current one. 📚🪦🌳
