I’m taking the middle ground here. McKinsey did not convince the City to do containerized trash—McKinsey does not do convincing of clients, McKinsey aligns their clients’ stakeholders toward predetermined outcomes. The City wanted to containerize and paid McKenzie to say it.

Sorry to harp on this but it is truly crazy that this article exists about Chris Sommerfeldt, one of the most normal reporters in media history nytimes.com/2025/06/17/nyr…

I’m Jewish and my maternal family was mostly wiped out in the Holocaust, and I think pointing out a benign museum usage of the word intifada is fair game. What offends me is using the Holocaust to sanitize Israel’s atrocities, and trying to narrow the meaning of “never again.”

This seems to be in response to Zohran Mamdani saying the museum has used the word "intifada" when discussing the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in Arabic. Per Wayback, looks like they used "intifada" (uprising) on their site til mid-2024, when they switched to "muqawama" (resistance).

The Washington Post print circulation has now fallen to 97,000; a low mark for the former Graham family paper that used to sell more than 500,000 papers a day (the paper does not disclose website traffic to the public anymore under Publisher Will Lewis) washingtoncitypaper.com/article/766255…

Day of colossal schadenfreude for #bikenyc, as the "major transportation projects" provision in the city code that has derailed the Bedford bike lane removal was in fact created as part of the 2010-era bikelash to gum up the works at NYCDOT

In a very low drama way, revealing the broad common-sense appeal of this, NYC’s automated enforcement program is calmly reauthorized for five more years.

The spending limit for campaigns is roughly $8.3 million. Mamdani raised that much with 20,720 donors + public funds. Lander raised it with 8,050 donors + public funds. Cuomo himself raised it with 5,730 donors + public funds. The super PAC raised that much much from one donor.
