Last Tuesday, Year 3 had a sensational Stone Age morning, consolidating what they have learnt in lessons and creating their very own Stone Age axe and cave art! Thank you to Ro for a wonderful day! South Walney Juniors

In English, Year 3 are currently looking at ‘The Magic Box’ by Kit Write. This morning we have practised using some of the techniques used in the poem and created some of our own sentences ready to write our version of ‘The Magic Box’. South Walney Juniors

On Friday, year 3 became detectives! They investigated the properties of a variety of rocks and had to work out which type of rock they were. Mrs Atkinson South Walney Juniors

3W have had an amazing art afternoon! The children investigated the effect of printing on different surfaces in and around school.

Last half term, year 3 had Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation come and help develop their tag rugby skills. It was lots of fun and they enjoyed every session. Thank you!

On Friday, we took 5 Year 3 children to take part in the Key Steps Gymnastics competition at Dowdales School. They performed brilliantly and we are so proud! Well done! South Walney Juniors

On Monday, Year 3 were exploring the properties of different types of soil and, let’s just say, they were more than excited when they discovered the creepy crawlies living in it. South Walney Juniors

A fantastic morning yesterday at the Furness STEM Show at Furness College. The children took part in some super interactive activities and finished off the morning with a show from Professor Pumpernickel! Thank you to all the companies involved! #STEM2023 South Walney Juniors

Last week we were very lucky to have an incredibly talented local duo visit school and perform for the children while teaching them how music can influence all subjects.

As part of STEM week, we have been looking at forces and magnets. The children have explored objects that can be pushed and/or pulled and today we have looked at the affects of friction on a toy car.

Year 3 have had a fantastic morning litter picking, thanks to Round House Hub and Cafe. They were very grateful for their ice lollies! Thank you! South Walney Juniors

Happy World Book Day from 3W!!! 🎊🎊

This week we headed out on our residential to Eskdale and what a brilliant time we had! The children loved every part of it, the journey on the La’al Ratty, our scenic route to the Youth Hostel and of course Muncaster Castle!

Y3 had a wonderful morning at Newbarns at the SCMAT Careers Event with BAE. The children thoroughly enjoyed talking to local companies and exploring the different job roles.
