4 years ago #OTD I collected 400 copies of #HardWorkButGlorious from Orphans Press #Leominster. I ended up having to do a reprint! I'm still so grateful to everyone who helped me publish. There's still a few copies left to buy Ledbury Books. #Suffrage #Herefordshire #Suffragette

This is going to be a great talk on 1 May at The Old Grammar School Ledbury Places. Hear all about the story of what was found in The Ross Gazette, Factory Fashion & #Rotherwas #Munitions. Supported by #Herefordshire Community Foundation. #WW1 Women At War Imperial War Museums @ticketsource

Cuckoo doing lots of cuckooing at Cross Keys #Withington #Hereford this afternoon! HerefordshireBirds #HerefsBirds

Tomorrow evening Ledbury Places Old Grammar School - come along and hear a fascinating talk!

Early morning line-up Gloucester Quays before the rest of the cars & the crowds began to really arrive! A great day out for us with our Alfa Romeo #AlfaRomeo #SZ #IlMostro

Visited Brighton on holiday for my Florence Canning #WSPU #Suffragette pilgrimage. Old Steine Gardens were closed where the CLWS photograph was taken, but saw Florence's final home, 23 Lower Rock Gardens & various places of interest incl Chapel Royal (Image: LSE Library)

Still grounded with my chest infection: writing #suffrage articles & planning my 3 Choirs talk. Frustrated about not being able to attack the garden! But I've enjoyed revisiting The British Newspaper Archive for some interesting snippets to tie in with my recent visit to Brighton (CLWS 1 Aug 1913).

1878 #OTD the #Hereford Journal reported on the women's #suffrage meeting held at the Shirehall. It was the brainchild of the Hereford Times Editor Charles Anthony Jr, who was a keen #suffragist. Read more: #HardWorkButGlorious (Images: The British Newspaper Archive & #Herefordshire Archives)

Mary Angela Dickens (yes, she was Charles' g-daughter) was the star speaker for the anti-suffragists in #Hereford a couple of months before the #suffragists got going in 1909. Common Cause reported #OTD on their activities. The last few words are interesting. (Image: The British Newspaper Archive)

Saturday #Ledbury: come & find out about #munitions workers in #WW1 & #WW2 in #Herefordshire with #Rotherwas Together & Ledbury Places. Free drop-in workshop, all welcome! Also see the Factory Fashion exhibition about women's protective wear. Imperial War Museums Deborah Cameron Dr Helen Fry | WWII Historian

1912 #OTD Common Cause reported on a drawing room meeting held at The Grange #Hereford. With her sister Una Bettington, Dorothy Dymond #suffragists ran Hampton Grange as a #WW1 Red Cross Nursing Home. (Images The British Newspaper Archive & #Herefordshire History). #Suffrage #HardWorkButGlorious

The #Rotherwas Together drop in session with Ledbury Places was great - a family came with a photo of a relative & little information & went away with so much more to explore at #Herefordshire Archives. Do you have munitions ancestors? Make a start here! rotherwas.com

Sadly a piece of our #Rotherwas Munitions Factory #Hereford was severely damaged by an arson attack yesterday - the #WW1 Picric Acid stores. Fortunately no one was hurt, but it was a dangerous incident for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service. If anyone knows what happened, please contact West Mercia Police.

1909 #OTD meeting preview, #VotesForWomen: I would love to know what Scottish audiences thought when they saw #WSPU speakers Florence Canning & Flora Drummond, probably one of the tallest & equally one of the shortest #Suffragettes! #HardWorkButGlorious (Image The British Newspaper Archive)
