Is it realistic to think that Job Protection Schemes could last for 18 months? Resolution Foundation "Resolution Foundation calls for job protection to last until end of 2021 amid coronavirus crisis" theguardian.com/business/2020/…

We work with HR professionals every day and I have to say that their job right now must be incredibly challenging. Employee engagement, wellbeing and furlough (potential redundancies) added to the challenge of home working make the job fascinating at the moment but.... #HR

Popped into the office today to take some bits and pieces in to those returning from furlough. Definitely significantly more cars in the business park today, anyone else seeing similar?

There are many commentators stating that there will be a V-shaped recovery - I just can't see it. BBC reporting 11,000 UK Job losses announced in the last 24 hours, the level of unemployment could be staggering. Where are the new jobs coming from? Am I a pessimist or a realist?

Matthew Iveson CV Screen (@cvscreenmatthew) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It feels to me that the Government are trying to talk up a V shaped recovery whereas the reality is something completely different. There will be people out there spending their furlough salary when they should be saving for a rainy day. Bluster and yet more bluster

Job application rates have increased by 53% between Q1 and Q2. There have been lower numbers of active candidates, but those who are active, are very actively applying for roles. More detail here: cvscreen.co.uk/job-market-rep…

There should be a bit of a bounce coming as definitely more people back at work this week, but I still don't buy this V shaped recession. Many on furlough will be kept on furlough until the last minute, so hiring unlikely to be clear until Q1 at earliest

Although the proposed increase in the number of Work Coaches is going to help, the fear is that the number of vacancies vs the numbers of unemployed will have limited success. It is the Job Creation schemes for 18-24 year olds that could be the game changer.

We've been thinking the same. Went two or three times as a kid, great holiday if the weather is good, but if raining it could be like lockdown all over again!

Matthew Iveson CV Screen (@cvscreenmatthew) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I like the idea of giving 18-24-year-olds a chance within my recruitment business, but given where we're at with the lack of demand for hiring & it not being easy to mentor remotely, it is likely to be 6-12 months time that we'll be able to be secure enough to make that call.

Matthew Iveson CV Screen (@cvscreenmatthew) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Right now it is difficult to see where that demand comes from. Looks as if the only way is for more jobs within the Public Sector having to be created,. I cannot see too many private sector employers having either the confidence or demand for their goods & services to push ahead

Worrying statistics for the UK jobs market, but no surprise. Where the job creation is coming from is the biggest concern, we could end up with 5mn unemployed with 500k live jobs if we are not careful. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

Sadly a lot of stories like this now. Vacancies recovering very slowly if at all, and Plan for Jobs didn't do much to help address this (e.g. NICs cut). Loads of spare capacity/ uncertainty means we're relying a lot on demand coming back quickly 1/ bbc.com/news/business-…

Sadly this is the problem facing so many people. "Her fear is that the job hunting is set to become even more competitive when the furlough scheme winds down in the autumn." bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

💛 We are proud to announce that our ‘Hornets At Home’ scheme – much valued and, more importantly, much used during the initial Covid-19 lockdown earlier this year – is back, and it’s here to stay.

I really felt that the Jobs Market would slowly begin to pick up in September, but the reality is that job numbers are marginally down from August. For those looking for work, keep plugging away and keep positive. For those of us in recruitment, try and heed the same advice!

The number of Clients calling in today with potential new vacancies is six. In the whole of last week, we had 5 new job leads.... Is that how quickly business confidence returns? #Business #Vaccine #JobsReport
