Interesting...the virome of the last eukaryotic common ancestor is bacterial, not archaeal. nature.com/articles/s4156… This may be evidence that a bacteria engulfed an ASGARD archaea, rendering it immune from viruses, not the other way around as is typically assumed. Cool!

Apparently the lab is 7 years old. Holy moly how did that happen. If I've learnt anything from these 7 years, it is this: this job is hard enough. Life is hard enough. Let's all try and make it a little easier for each other, and have fun doing the science.
