The Chancellor has just implemented both parts of our plan - set out with former PM, Gordon Brown - to reduce child poverty. A tax on gambling to scrap the two child limit. Very proud of our work IPPR

This is truly excellent news. The single biggest thing the Chancellor could have done to give children a decent start in life. This will protect 100s of 1000s of children from growing up facing hunger & hardship. It'll ease pressure on public services and help boost our economy.

Tackling child poverty is a moral duty. That’s why I’m ending the two child limit - so every child has the chance to thrive. This will lift hundreds of thousands out of poverty and help break the cycle of disadvantage for good.

This Budget ensures that Scottish public services are fairly-funded. It provides an extra £820 million for the Scottish Government to spend on its priorities through the Barnett Formula, on top of the record £9.1 billion settlement in June. 2/10

This Budget prioritises raising children out of poverty. The Chancellor announced the removal of the two-child limit. 95,000 children in Scotland will benefit from this change. 3/10

Scottish families will benefit from this Budget, which prioritises bringing down the cost of living. On average, families will be £150 better off per year from savings on energy bills. 4/10

Other measures to support Scottish families include 🔴an increase to universal credit 🔴increase to the basic and state pensions 🔴cutting fuel duty to help families save on everyday costs 🔴further increasing National Living & Minimum Wages 5/10

3,500 young Scots will benefit from the UK’s Youth Guarantee scheme, backed by £820 million. Young people will be supported to pursue higher education, develop skills and secure jobs. 8/10

The UK Government will invest £2 billion in Scotland across a range of regional and local growth programmes. 9/10

Today’s budget is the final nail in the coffin for the Conservative’s failed austerity project. Key public services and essential infrastructure suffered because the Tories made bad economic choices - we must never go back to those dark days.

This is the difference with Labour.
