It is great when museums lend to each other and you can examine works in a different context. The Musée du Louvre borrowed Henry VIII’s horned helmet by Konrad Seusenhofer from Royal Armouries & also this 16th century study of a jester carrying similar spectacles 🤓
A 4-year reminder came up on another digital platform today - Happy Birthday Sophie Anderton & Kirsty Parsons. Even a global pandemic didn’t prevent us curators from celebrating 🎉
From one royal palace to another - the Grinling Gibbons horse in Royal Armouries returns from its summer holiday in Château de Versailles next week. It will be lovely to have him back in the Tower of London.

Today, this lovely painting by David Wilkie Wynfield of the arrest of Anne Boleyn went on display Royal Armouries The Tower of London. The setting for this scene was a room Hever Castle but Anne was enjoying a tennis match at Greenwich when she was arrested.

This fabulous little chap with his wonderful moustache has been on display Royal Armouries Tower of London for over 220 years. However, we are unsure of his origins. Could he be from a German clock? This week he was lightly dusted as part of our Tower Spring Clean 🧹
