The ultimate irony? The organic sector is one of the worst offenders when it comes to greenwashing, but the EU's planned Green Claims Directive, designed to prevent consumers being misled by environmental claims, specifically excludes organic products. scienceforsustainableagriculture.com/wilkinsonpears…

Did you know that red meat has more than 40,000 bioactive components? Amino acids, peptides, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, growth factors, antioxidants, and nucleotides - all in one food. Many we haven't even been able to identify yet. So much more than protein and fat.

US Dietary Guidelines advisory committee has proposed lowering the meat/eggs/poultry category by 4oz. 😬 The protein category has already been invaded by nuts, beans, legumes, peas, etc...which do not provide complete proteins. Children needs complete proteins to grow properly.

Good to see RSPCA (England & Wales) recognise publicly that gene editing in farmed animals can offer benefits for health and welfare - in terms of preventing and controlling disease. Signs of a more pragmatic, evidence-based approach, which is very welcome. theguardian.com/science/2024/n…

Great summary Catherine really enjoyed your synopsis of ESG and how it impacts farmers in Australia. Loved the “Hasten cautiously” quote for Govt intervention. Govt needs to deeply research the impact before acting on ESG

Hold these two thoughts in your head: --There's been a relentless crusade to frame the food system as "broken" and in need of wholesale "replacement" using radical measures. It's urgent. Moonshots are needed. AND --Family farms in Europe and the US are disappearing at alarming

Sales of beef surged in the UK last year while plant-based substitutes continued their 4 year-long decline. Gen Z leads the way. They no-longer believe the public health scare stories (which were always based on very weak observational studies).

Rotational grazing — also referred to as adaptive multi-paddock grazing — is a regenerative farming practice that allows farmers to manage their herds in a way that supports their cows, soils and long-term sustainability. Benefits of #rotationalgrazing include:
