Lissa Evans The Observer article has really upset me. I nursed my Mum through the horrors of corticobasal disease & I knew from the outset the story in #TheSaltPath couldn't be true. But it will have given people false hope, all in pursuit of money. It's both unkind and unscrupulous.

What upsets me most about The Salt Path being false is that it reinforced the view in society that even when terminally ill it’s possible to walk hundreds of miles. It fed into how politicians and DWP assessors view illness & capability - and it’s not true observer.co.uk/news/national/…

To the people who are *shocked* about The Salt Path revelations... Are we joking? Man had an incurable degenerative condition that somehow was fixed at the end of each (definitely true) book by (checks notes) a LONG WALK. AND YOU BELIEVED IT? Belle Gibson anyone? #TheSaltPath

The Observer Chloe Hadjimatheou 🙏for this reporting. After my 15 year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumour, I was advised to read #TheSaltPath to "treat" my son and "better" manage myself . Glad I never read it. The truly ill need support & proven treatment, not grifting & lies.

#LiveAid40 Morning: My Dad set the Betamax to record and his pal Douglas came round with beers. Noon: he nicked off up the sports club, with Douglas. Afternoon: Returned, checked Betamax player. Asked me to not break the He-Man figures 8 year old me was playing with in garden.

Early evening - Dad made prawn risotto from a bag. Douglas knocked door having stayed back at Sports club. Dinner: my Mum arrived from her shift as maternity nurse. They continued to watch Live Aid together for rest of night. Dad would die, in his sleep, 18 days later #LiveAid40

#liveaid40 Fish’s career and appeal still boggles my mind.

Dipping into BBC’s #LiveAid40 broadcast made me look at it with new eyes. All the big set piece performers were Kenny Everett stalwarts but Kenny wasn’t included.
