Why are folks stuck in this weird mental loop where they hate spam, want it blocked, and die on a hill for something comically ineffective, all while refusing to just add a protocol rule to *actually block it*? Of all options, this is the most nonsensical, logical incoherent one.

In all seriousness: why not pursue a compromise like this? I don't care much about OP_RETURN limits either way, so if that's some big deal for folks, and they'd be willing to add covenants in exchange, this seems like a win win for both of those groups 🤷‍♂️

Energy Star Program. Outlets like CNN, Washington Post, TechCrunch, Fast Company, etc are running headlines saying Trump is killing a program that saves Americans $40B per year. This number comes from the program's own 2024 annual report. The claim is not so much a lie as

It cannot be stressed enough how much the public health policy response to the George Floyd protests shredded institutional trust (link in replies)

Can I decide how it's invested? No Can I withdraw it when I want? No Can my family have the balance when I die? No It's not your money, it's a lossy, unsustainable, population pyramid scheme that's *worse* than a Ponzi, because at least Ponzi didn't force people to participate

I'd be more in favor of making the 80 byte OP_RETURN limit a protocol rule that was actually enforced, vs doing filter policy rain dancing that adds more technical/system complexity and creates negative Nth order effects. Why are filter folks not advancing a protocol rule option?

Good, but 20-Life would have been more just. Scammers deserve murder-level punishment, because a financial scam at scale that hits hundreds of thousands of people almost always results in suicides, which the scammer should be held responsible for.

The NY Times spent a decade telling you Bitcoin was worthless, backed by nothing, a Ponzi scheme. It’s now the 5th most valuable asset on planet Earth. Do you still subscribe to their periodical?

As a libertarian, I don't care whether he speaks or not (I don't vote for Rs/Ds), but because he is, I do wonder if the Democrats will continue committing electoral suicide by refusing to compete for votes among a group that may regularly swinging major elections going forward 🤔

Americans will pay higher tariffs on imports from the U.K. than they did before Trump arrived in office. How is this a good deal? reason.com/2025/05/09/the…

Depends what you mean by fragile. For example, I'm pretty sure if I domed this thing in the face (vision sensor area) with a solid core metal bat, it would be out of commission in one hit. When they start mounting guns on them, you'd need to engage at a distance with a rifle,

OP_CHECKCONTRACTVERIFY is BIP-443. When I presented MATT at the first BTCAzores Unconference - See you in 2026 🏝️ in September 2022, it was just a concept: a minimal covenant with maximal power. While the covenant was straightforward, what a good implementation would look like was far from clear. Then came

"They're coming to get the payments you agreed to make - pure evil!" - I will never understand how these goofballs think their ridiculous hyperbole will ever resonate with the vast majority of people who responsibly pay back loans.

Steve jokes, but I had been genuinely wondering if filter folks will double down on whack-a-mole commitment by proposing a mechanism to automatically stream in new dragon-chasing filter code that's dynamically executed without compilation.
