First up this characteristically generous review by fellow anthropologist Radhika Govindrajan in Conservation&Society who gets both the politics of place and the wider anthropological project like nobody else. journals.lww.com/coas/fulltext/…

My book finally has a cover!😁 Cover illustration by the insanely talented Mahima Jaju. And generous endorsements by Mukulika Banerjee, Jaffrelot Christophe, and Rahul Verma. Should be in-stock by the end of September! Big thanks to Anwesha, Saniya Puri, Qudsiya Ahmed & their team.

🥁New article! Notice how 🇮🇳 rarely explicitly criticizes or even names 🇨🇳 in diplomatic speech? Well Raphaëlle Khan & I have a theory for that. Our new BJPIR article draws on language pragmatics to argue that 🇮🇳 often signals via a mode of indirect speech called "implicature"

This is a fascinating paper by Kate Sullivan de Estrada et al on India's signalling: "to avoid provoking China, build supportive but caveated relations with the United States." journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/13… It is a clever paper, with layers underneath the text that interested readers can unpeel.
