The Trayvon murder changed my life. It changed the way I view the world & people, in general. It forced me to educate myself & truly dive deep into Black history (primarily b/c they do such a poor job teaching us in school—by design) He could’ve been my brother, cousin or friend

Before this, you can’t think of a time where armed agents of the state stopped Americans and have executed Americans without repercussion? Never? This is what the erasure of Black history looks like in action.

It’s also important to hold judges accountable for the lives they’ve ruined. The officers make the arrests but the judges choose the sentence based on their own discretion.

Black Americans do have our own culture. We created almost every music genre. Blues, Jazz, Rock & Roll, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Soul, Funk, R&B…all Black American creations
