As temperatures drop, Crossroads remains committed to providing warmth and safety for Rhode Islanders experiencing homelessness. Last week, Governor McKee & Housing Secretary Goddard joined visited to tour our warming center and discuss urgent need to support our neighbors.

With cold winds and more than 6 inches of snow predicted for the weekend, it won't be safe to stay outside. If you need a warm place to come in out of the cold, Crossroads' Warming Center at 160 Broad Street in Providence will be open.

March is National Social Work Month! At Crossroads, we’re celebrating the dedication and compassion of our frontline Case Managers, who play a vital role in helping individuals and families overcome challenges utilizing a housing-first approach.

Last week, students from Rob Roy Academy provided over two dozen free haircuts to our clients through Hope Kutz—a program dedicated to spreading hope, one haircut at a time. Thanks to Hope Kutz for your generosity and for showing how small acts of kindness can make a difference!

With the installation of exterior brick now underway, construction of our 176-unit Summer Street Apartments has reached another major milestone! Thoughtfully designed by KITE Architects, this 176-unit development for formerly homeless adults is on track for completion this fall.

Crossroads President & CEO Michelle Wilcox recently had the opportunity to join PARISEAULT1946, A Bed for Every Child, and nearly 50 volunteers for a “Build a Bed” event in Cranston—supporting children in our housing programs. Thank you to everyone who showed up to help!

On June 2, Crossroads will break ground on its Health & Housing Apartments: 35 permanent supportive apartments for medically vulnerable adults experiencing homelessness, with a healing garden and space for health and/or behavioral health partners. Because housing is healthcare.

Earlier this week, we broke ground on 35 new permanent supportive apartments at 371 Pine Street—designed for Rhode Islanders facing both homelessness and health challenges. This is the future of housing and health in RI. When we build housing, we build futures.
