🚨 PhD Opportunity 🚨 - I’m looking for a student interested in population / evolutionary ecology to come join my group in Ecology&EvolutionANU Biology at ANU as part of an ARC Future Fellowship! Come work with a fantastic team in a fantastic place! Please RT
First day of the Sydney Royal Easter show and I really enjoyed talking about bees and other pollinators at the Uni of New England stand. If you are in Sydney, come to the show and check out our pretty cool stand! #pollinators #bees Rader Ecology Lab
The first chapter of my Ph.D. on crop-pollinating Diptera (flies) has been accepted to Ecological Applications, and the final edited/typeset version will be published soon 😊
Very happy to share that our new paper has just been published! 🐝🫐Here we found that protective nets reduce #pollenflow in #blueberry orchards - check it out: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… @ManuSaunders Ulrika Samnegård Romina Rader
New paper out Insects MDPI! We placed portable pools filled with non-floral habitat in seed carrot crop fields to provide oviposition sites for beneficial fly pollinators... and it worked! 😊 Read more here: mdpi.com/2075-4450/14/5… MDPI Romina Rader Dr Lena Schmidt
First paper from my PhD, "Bee diversity decreases rapidly with time since harvest in intensively managed conifer forests" is live Ecological Applications! esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.100…
Excited to announce the 1st publication from Imogen Ryan (she/her), on UK raspberry pollinaton. In experiments over 3 years, she showed that 68% of marketable fruit set depends on pollination; this dependence can vary a lot depending on how & when you measure it onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec…
Our new paper on crop-pollinating flies has been published! We reviewed 431 fly species found globally & compiled their diets and habitat needs into a freely-accessible database. Ecological Applications zenodo.org/record/7827128 doi.org/10.1002/eap.28… Romina Rader @ManuSaunders
Another big nature pattern unveiled: pollen production per flower increases with floral display size across animal-pollinated flowering plants. Thanks nicolaycunha for sharing this adventure. See more at doi.org/10.1002/ajb2.1…
From our #Agroecosystems track: Australian #BrownHoneyeaters normally eat nectar - but a new study finds they'll also hunt insects in berry crops, potentially serving as #BiologicalControl agents doi.org/10.1002/ecs2.4… #OpenAccess Karen Santos Romina Rader Abby E. Davis
🌸Excited to be offering a South Coast Biosciences DTP #PhD project w/@sejarnold looking at the impact of plant nutrition on floral rewards and plant-pollinator interactions🐝 👉More info here tinyurl.com/4rdk5puz ✍️Apply to SoCoBio southcoastbiosciencesdtp.ac.uk/apply/ #FindAPhD #PhDPosition #Pollination
New paper out in Applied Ecol. Resources|Ecol. Solutions & Evidence! Dr Lena Schmidt Karen Santos Romina Rader This started with a simple observation on a farm and turned into a really cool collaboration with industry and government researchers 😊 doi.org/10.1002/2688-8…
