As we begin to release prisoners early as a short-term measure because our prisons are full, the deeper questions we must also start to address are what we believe about justice, rehabilitation and restoration, and even more importantly what are we going to do about it.

Will many of those prisoners released early reoffend? Yes. Guaranteed. Would they have reoffended if they’d served their full sentences? Yes. Guaranteed. The problem isn’t early release, it is a prison system that fails utterly to rehabilitate people’s lives. #r4today
