NOAA Fisheries AK Please take a moment and watch this video. These are the Washington boats you allow to come to Alaska to trawl our waters. These nets destroy everything in their path . Our bubblegum coral, our seafloor , our breeding grounds. We don’t have the fish that used to sustain us.

🚨 The leaked EU #OceansPact is a masterclass in smoke & mirrors, its 'actions' mainly a repackaging of existing agreements. Without binding measures the Pact will be more flop than framework. The European Commission has until 04/06 to fix this. #BackToTheDrawingBoard #BlueManifesto

There’s been a lot more heat than light in this week’s political reporting of UK-EU deal on fishing. Read our new blog to explore what the deal really means for coastal communities and our seas… openseas.org.uk/news/what-does…

Not just in Spain but all across Europe, the UK & arguably the world, small scale & low impact fishers have been marginalised by unfair access to fishing opportunity and having to compete against industrialised destructive fisheries. #MakeFishingFair SSF are part of the solution!

Unfortunately Scottish Government & Mairi Gougeon track record on protecting Scotland's marine environment is shockingly bad. Unlike England & much of Europe we have no differential fisheries management between inshore and offshore and salmon farming is impacting wild fish and fisheries

“The Our Seas coalition says the restrictions are necessary to allow the seabed to recover from bottom-trawling and dredging … And that call is supported by low impact fishermen like Duncan.” Great to see the impact of damaging fishing methods brought to the surface on BBC News (UK)
