Because I'm insane I decided to index every game reviewed in CRASH magazine, with the aim of recreating a Speccy version of this: x.com/HewsonJoystick… The data entry is complete, and now I have lots of interesting/useless info about CRASH scores. The most common score? 90%.

The average CRASH score for Ocean games in 1987? 64%. Great: Tai-Pan, Wizball Pretty good: Double Take, Short Circuit Bang average: Mutants Crap: Donkey Kong, Highlander, It's a Knockout, Mario Bros

Fun with data. 🤓 The most prolific single software label in CRASH review history is... US Gold, with 107 titles (including compilations). That surprised me. And the amount they spent on advertising must have been mindboggling. Ocean/Imagine too.

Ah, Pirate Software. You came, you were awful, you disappeared. And it turns out you really were pirates, with many of your games (those by Harry S Price) straight up rips of existing commercial releases. O.K. Yah! is a title I bought and own. It is not good.
