Lifted a couple of main crop Picasso potatoes today. The ground was covered in ash from the bonfires prior to planting that can be seen on a few when I lifted them.

Christmas potatoes are coming through. Added more compost to keep them covered, will start more at the weekend.

Been to the allotment this morning, gradually emptying beds now, seems early compared to other years. But all the beds that are completely empty have had a covering of manure. Did another one this morning.

Wife said bring a collection of veg back, think this should do.

Lifted a bed of potatoes, this is from 5 of the twelve plants.

Started the rest of the Christmas potatoes, total of 10 buckets 5 each of Pentlandite Javelin and Charlotte. 2 of each were started a few weeks ago, 3 of each started today.

Started the winter brassicas, Calabrese, Cauliflower and cabbage. They should be ready to plant out in the polytunnel in 6 to 8 weeks, when the cucumber and tomato plants are coming out.

Christmas potatoes are coming on well, these were planted on 13th August. Started another tub of carrots, depending on the weather these could be ready as baby carrots for Christmas.

Christmas Potatoes started on 25th August have come through, these buckets have now been topped up. Hopefully they will all grow away now. Should be ready before the first winter frost.

Despite the drizzle I have spent the morning putting woodchip on the paths on the allotment plot.

Still getting salad crops, just hope the local forecast is correct for tonight and the temperatures stay above freezing, we had a low of 3.7c overnight last night.
