Read a recap of the great Austin Day Open Street event our friends Neighbors for a Safer Austin Street organized last weekend. Hopefully this will be the first of many and eventually help make needed permanent changes to the street. centralqueensmicro.wordpress.com/2025/09/20/hoo…

Cristian Vazquez is the seventh person on a bike to be killed by dooring this year in New York City. He was riding an electric Citi Bike, capped at 15 mph. Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani Adams' e-bike speed limit didn't save his life. A protected bike lane might have. Where was he supposed to ride?

For taxpayers, bike infrastructure is a gift that keeps on giving. An asset that returns annual savings in congestion, maintenance, safety, pollution and healthcare over its lifetime. Stop asking whether your city can afford to invest in cycling. Ask whether it can afford not to.
