It's a bit bobbing along in the past, and obviously there's more to England - dynamism, exploration, individualism, Empire etc - but this picture feels very Angleterre profonde for me. Somewhere not very far off there's a manor house and a quiet pub. x.com/JChimirie66677…

How hard is it for a bishop to say smthng like "immigration policy is highly complex and there are lots of difficult trade-offs involved. My prayers are with all politicians. As a church, we will continue to preach the Gospel and encourage Christians to serve their neighbours".

Possibly fake of course and judge not lest ye etc etc but the parenting advice cliché about the years flying by so make the most of all the time you do have is so true. NPCs from Blood Mission 97 are never going to make you an adorably amateur birthday card.

NPRG Also a hint of "everything has to be about everything" in the Archbishop's statement. Not every solution has to permanently solve the big issues convulsing our world. It's perfectly fine to solve one particular little problem.
