First step is to always call your local police. Then contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud centre by calling 1-888-495-8501. Report the incident to your banking institution, and notify the website where the fraud took place (if applicable) and lastly regularly monitor your credit

The Government of Canada has an excellent book “The Little Black Book of Scams 2nd edition” that covers many types of fraud situations and is an excellent place to start. Also, request a fraud session for your organization/community and have a CPA present a financial literacy
