Today, we started doing ‘official’ stuff for our wedding. Had a chat with the celebrant, and I created an event on another platform, as a kind of ‘Save The Date’ thing. Sent out a few invites. Wholly unsurprised that two of my best pals responded with ‘maybe’. 👀

How’s everyone doing these days?

New York City on a cold, cold January night, from a warm, comfy hotel room.

It’s been an utterly dogshit 4 weeks, and it ends tomorrow. Get me to the airport, and everything else can burn.

Well folks, I don’t drop by here as much anymore, for what I consider to be fairly obvious reasons. But sure, I’m never far away if you want to get in touch. I have started a Threads account, so feel free to join me there 😊

2023: like running through treacle for the most part, but conversely, with some of the greatest moments of my life chucked in, just to redeem it all. It’s been wild.

Finally. I made it. I got through the ugly part of December, and now I’ve 3 days to myself. Food bought, house cleaned, no commitments, nowhere to be. Just myself, and the dogs. Bliss.

“Oh, it’s gonna snow”, I thought with mild excitement - the only ‘Christmas-adjacent’ entity I enjoy. But no, it’s sleet - the worst of all the meteorological conditions. Aside from hailstones. Fuck hailstones.

So, my favourite beer, at my favourite brewery was finally back on again this past weekend, and we even had our own private stash.

All inclusive holidays in some tourist trap resort always sounded pretty grim to me, BUT, living through ever increasingly miserable winters, has led me to believe that a week of sunshine in Dec/Jan where I don’t have to think, might be the greatest idea anyone has ever had.

Is anyone else out there just not that bothered about Xmas? It’s just a non-event for me. 🤷‍♂️

For anyone with a passing interest in ‘Ulysses’, and even if you don’t, Frank Delaney’s ‘Re:Joyce’ podcast is just magical. What a tragedy he didn’t get to finish it.

Saturday night. Fire pit and a free pizza. Best beer on the planet too. Fabulous stuff.

So, despite my earlier grumbling, I managed to run home just before Debi turned up to ruin things. Got a bit soggy, but delighted I took the chance. Another 6 miles in the tank.
