Unless this tax dodge is stopped,2nd homeowners will avoid the extra CT levy by making their properties tax exempt holiday lets. In Cornwall this subsidy costs £18million pa (£143 million since 2012) Plus £170million in Covid business grants All this could have funded 1st homes

We need planning controls and licensing schemes for holiday lets scrap the the taxdodge for their owners and spend that £18million pa (in Cornwall) on first homes/council housing.Don’t differentiate between 2nd homes&holiday lets they are both part of the same problem Labour CRH 🌹〓〓

You are missing/ignoring two important points,you can legally exploit the tax dodge without actually letting your property to anyone & this tax exemption should not be available to the owners of properties that could be first homes,it’s a perverse to incentivise housing shortage
