Midwives in Sweden tends to clamp the umbilical cord in a way that is more natural and practical in their daily, clinical work We called all labor departments in Sweden twice, and asked 95 midwives about their clamping practice. Now we publish the results: doi.org/10.18332/ejm/1…

Making the Argument for Intact Cord Resuscitation: A Case Report and Discussion doi.org/10.3390/childr… "Paramount to our hypothesis is the importance of keeping the umbilical cord circulation intact during the first several minutes of life to accommodate neonatal transition."

we publish an observational study on 904 term neonates, median time to umbilical cord clamping after birth of 6 min NO increased jaundice NO increased bilirubin NO other negative complications Sustained cord circulation beyond 3 minutes seems safe doi.org/10.1111/birt.1…

Is it more shocking to you that delaying cord clamping beyond 2 minutes does not lead to greater need for phototherapy or that some babies in this study did not get CC until after 10 minutes?! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36646247/ #neoTwitter #MedTwitter

doi.org/10.1016/j.jped… After we published our paper showing that Bilirubin levels not were correlated to time to cord clamping, it has gained quite a lot of interest, and is a month after its publication the second most read article in Journal of Pediatrics the last 30 days.

We have written a review on the subject that evidence demands that we wait to clamp the cord more than one minute, and explain the method of sampling cord blood gases without clamping the cord, widely practiced in Sweden.

The twin papers from the iCOMP Meta-analysis led by Anna Lene Seidler (she/her) finds 1. premature babies whose umbilical cord is clamped 30 seconds or more after birth are less likely to die before leaving the hospital authors.elsevier.com/c/1i5LXV-4XL6Gk
