Sam Haselby Same in Lisbon. Particularly so. Remarkably multicultural in the 15-16 centuries. (Age of Discovery.) And during the 70s immediately post-colonial/fascist period. Only now is it weaponized as a symptom of Nationalism re: neoliberal/REAL ESTATE.

The incomparable Kino International, Berlin. Memorably, saw Mutiny on the Bounty, 1962, Brando in 70mm. And first time in cinema after long winter lockdown seeing TENET in nearly empty theatre. Appropriately disorienting transition from months of tiny screens to a huge screen.

And close to my heart: my hometown theatre, The Strand Theatre, Delaware, Ohio, opened in 1916 and one of the 10 longest continuously running independent cinemas in the US, still with working organ. Gets a solid shoutout in the new book on Lynch's Twin Peaks: The Return, Part 8.

The Los Thuthanaka album reminds me a bit of when RJD2's Deadringer came out in 2002, and how timely it was wrt to texture, vibe, melody, (a)rhythmic cycles, and uncanny reflection of the narrative conspiracy of the period.

I didn't *love* his performance/presence either. And it's still one of my top films of the 21c. And I still highly regard many of Tarantino's movies. JFC.

Europe is not in a "bad place" because of immigration. The EU has exactly the sort of sclerotic unintelligent neoliberal leadership that centrist pundits like you seem to adore in its most important countries, and these leaders have consistently fanned the flames of the far right

Peter Thiel and Alex Karp are OUT OF THEIR FUCKING MINDS. This is what human AI looks like. They make Eldon Tyrell seem a quaint steampunk tinker. This is beyond Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg... bc they believe in their own capabilities to conduct the phenomenology of the zeitgeist.
