We're now in the swing of things. End of the first full build day and our teams have reported progress, tracked costs and reported profits for all this progress. Let's see if they can finish the job on time tomorrow....

Our 'Construkt Project' offers young people a pathway into the engineering industry. We work with a range of leading organisations in the sector to take participants through the life cycle of an engineering project, while exposing them to the different career pathways available.

On Day 1 we spoke to various industry workers from leading constriction companies like an Architect at Lendlease and a Civil Engineer at Skanska UK We were given a brief to design their own a community centre in groups, before presenting their ideas to the rest of the class.

On day 2 we were introduced to Sakthy, the co-founded of BKwai_ , who highlighted the many opportunities of entrepreneurship. Then, students worked together in groups to come up with and present their own original business idea, with sustainability being the main concern.

On day 3 a previous member of the programme came to discuss how our support at was beneficial for him landing an engineering apprenticeship. We dove deeper into the various stages of building development, and explored the different tradesmen involved in the construction process.

On day 4 we explored interview etiquette, common interview questions and how to structure answers using the CAR method. Then, practiced writing in this format. They also practiced interviewing each other, and created Specification and Cover Letters to use as a future templates.

Our final day of the construkt programme was used to showcase the many opportunities available when progressing into the engineering and construction industries. We were visited by Laing O'Rourke Danny Sullivan Group & NG Bailey who discussed their upcoming apprenticeships.
