This is an incredibly similar graph to turnout among white people by age in a recent Florida special election. Pretty cool corroboration of David's point. Young Republicans are disengaged, they don't vote in specials and they don't answer polls. But they do vote for President.

With Hassett it’s not even that he’s a hack or uninspired (Dow 36,000 etc), it’s that if a crisis calls for a big decision I don’t think he’s up to it.

It may be the case that only bubbles or the state can induce the optimal amount of investment — no one actually wants to invest “enough” in normal times — so sometimes the private sector has to go a little crazy so we can get railroads, fiber optic cables, things of that nature
