Just, hear me out Ehlers - Aho - Marchand Svechnikov - Jarvis - Stankoven Hall - Kotkaniemi - Blake Martinook - Staal - Carrier

Darren Dreger: "I could see" a fit between Nikolaj Ehlers and Carolina; there's a sense he'd like to go somewhere that's "pretty quiet" - TSN 1050

The problem Dallas have now is that Marchment’s contract was just essentially given to Duchene. That leaves them right where they were. Even if they buy out Lybushkin and Dumba, they don’t have a ton of flexibility.

He’s not getting dealt for nothing. However, Dallas needs cap room. He’s not moving for roster players. It’s why Carolina are in a wonderful position here. They can give Dallas their future back, and give them cap relief, even if they take on a Lybushkin or a Dumba.

Dallas, if they buyout both Dumba and Lybushkin, will open up 4 million in cap space. They still need a LW, 2 RW and a RD, not including scratches. They're in cap hell Carolina has their 1st round pick next year

I feel this needs to be pointed out again. The Carolina Hurricanes once beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, in Toronto, with a Zamboni Driver in goal. You think Toronto was beating Carolina?

"Tavares can't sign for more than Duchene" For Tavares to take home the same amount as Duchene after taxes in Toronto, he'd need a caphit of $6.4 million. Duchene also gets paid 6 million from Nashville a year. They are not comparable situations.

Small problem with this. As the season goes along, player cap hits drop. These pro-rated cap hits hit 0 when the season ends, players do not get paid salary for the playoffs.

TJ Brodie is still a serviceable defenseman, but he needs shelter to play on a contending team. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. He feels like a very Florida Panther/Vegas Golden Knight pick-up.

Okay, #RaiseUp fans, help me out. Who do you want at 2C? Bennett's not reaching free agency. Granlund and Tavares are the only other options in free agency. On the trade market, there's even less. There's Marco Rossi and that's it. So who do you want to see the Canes get?

Conor Power (@conor_j_power) 's Twitter Profile Photo

So, Tavares will be a UFA. He's worth 11, at his age you might say okay, maybe no more than 7. 4 mill a year for FOURTY GOALS?

If San Jose goes rogue for anyone other than Eklund, they've missed something. They have a remarkable opportunity, even if it doesn't work. This class isn't good enough to differentiate a lot of the top 10. You can justify them in almost any order, so why not?
