"When I think back to the years living in London, I rarely think about the museums and nightclubs that punctuated my existence, but that quiet nothing-land, neither here nor there." My latest story on #Substack on the beauty of forgotten spaces 👉bit.ly/3OD79oY

"Tweet, tweet, you hungry finches sing, and once more can I hear those dulcet notes come bubbling, butter in my ear." I wrote a poem about the cherry-faced cheerleader of the garden on @Substack: bit.ly/3IoYRxP

"To slightly misappropriate a quote by the author John Steinbeck: 'What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?'" In my latest story on #Substack, I make a case for winter in a world looking forward to summer bit.ly/3UU3xD3

"Categorising time is helpful if you are dating fossils, but doing so implies that life stops and starts again. In reality it is a tumbling yarn, rolling unpredictably for us to follow." I invoke #JurassicPark in my latest story on #Substack... bit.ly/3P0T7O7

"And so, as I sat at the frontier of land and water, pocked with the vestiges of war, I saw it as a borderland between the present and the past." My latest story ponders the 'right' and 'wrong' sides of history, via a day at the seaside. Link in bio

"Hope is a deeper belief in tomorrow. In an age where we are so derailed by the distractions of the present, a little more hope for the future cannot be a bad thing. Perhaps the birds know this." My latest story is on the revelatory joy that is spring🐣Link in bio

People are always apologising for their absence because they've been 'busy'. But is it possible they're not *actually* busy, they just think they are? Inspired by nature's busiest beasts, my latest story is one I've been buzzing to write (sorry) 🐝 Link in bio

I wrote a poem about the local crematorium's garden of remembrance. Morbid, perhaps, but it is always more full of life and colour than you think. Link in bio

Bluebell Kit Kat, anyone? Maybe not, but I wrote about our own version of Japan's cherry blossom season, and why you should go and find them now, before it's too late

Some really interesting truths here from @Rrrrnessa Similarly, a recent report into British attitudes to reading found 33% "didn't have time" - an illusion, surely. Free time that was once spent reading is now spent scrolling, an act so passive it barely registers as time spent

This week I've been writing about nostalgia, wallowing in memories of the early 2010s — my university days, a time when I used to wake up with either with a throbbing head or eyes fresh with ambition. When it felt like life was just beginning. Anyone else? Link in bio
