Below average #rainfall at the end of 2019 led to drought conditions over Southern Africa (plot from CHIRPS Climate Hazards Center). Standardised Precipitation Index (SPI) is used to characterise meteorological drought. This week heavy #rainfall has led to #flooding (via FloodList.com).
