AIU team of Trichy international airport intercepted a pax who arrived from Bangkok via Singapore by Scoot flight no.TR566 and on examination of his checked in baggage 9.82 kgs of Hydroponic weed was recovered. Further investigation is in progress. CBIC Trichy Customs (Prev) Zone

On the basis of specific intelligence, the officers of Customs Division, Ramanathapuram seized 39.750 Kgs of Ganja worth ₹11.93 Lakhs at Keelakarai on 14.06.2025 in abandoned condition . Further Investigation is under progress. CBIC Trichy Customs (Prev) Zone

With DRI input, officers of AIU , Madurai intercepted a passenger coming from Thailand in Flight UL139 on 23.06.2025. In checked in baggage, 6 green colour packets (ganja) totally weighing approx 3 KG valued at Rs.3 Crores was recovered. Further investigation is under process.

On 24.06.25, on inputs of CIU Trichy Customs(P), Customs officers at Coimbatore Airport intercepted two passengers arriving from Singapore on Flight TR540 & seized 35 drones worth Rs.35 lacs, including DJI Air3S, Mini2, Mini4 Pro & Mini4K models. Further proceedings are going on.

The officers of AIU, Trichy Airport seized one live Squirrel Monkey (Simia Sciureus) brought by a PAX arrived from Kuala Lumpur in flight No.OD 223 on 27.06.2025. Further investigation is under progress. The said monkey is listed under Sch-IV of WLPA,1972 & Appendix-II of Cities.

As part of 'Drug Disposal Campaign' conducted by the Ministry of Finance, Trichy Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate undertook destruction of 455.370 kgs of Ganja.

On 7th July2025, AIU Trichy, acting on DRI inputs, intercepted a passenger from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur. His baggage contained 28 vacuum-sealed pouches(11.8kg) of Hydroponic Ganja. The contraband was seized & he was arrested under NDPS Act 1985. Further investigation is ongoing.

On 16.07.2025,Customs at Trichy Intl. Airport intercepted 2 Kuala Lumpur bound PAX on flight OD224 & recovered 403 live Indian Star Tortoises from their trolley bags.The tortoises & the PAX were handed over to the Trichy Forest Office for action under the Wildlife(Protection)Act.

On 20.07.2025, the officers of AIU, Trichy Customs, intercepted a passenger arrived Trichy from Kuala Lumpur by Flight No.AK25. On examination of his checked in luggage, recovered 250 Nos. of e-cigarettes valued at approx. Rs.6.25 lakh. Further investigation is in progress.

On the evening of 21.07.25, around 1500 hrs, Tuticorin Customs Cat-I Patrol Vessel spotted a capsized fishing boat east of the Anchorage area. Another boat was struggling to tow it due to strong winds. Customs staff quickly rescued the fishermen and towed the boat to harbour.

On 11.08.2025, On DRI inputs, the AIU at Cbe Airport intercepted 4 paxs arrived from Singapore on SCOOT flight TR-540. Seized 6.713 kg of hydroponic weed from two pax’s and 14 drones valued at ₹19 lakh from the other two. Action under the Customs Act and NDPS Act is underway.
