In line with the 80th session of the #UNGA beginning, our September challenge with CFC focuses multilateralism and how we can reform international institutions to be more representative, trusted and effective in a shifting rules-based order.🌎

Today marked Day 1 of the Digital Identity Systems Policy Hackathon, co-organised by CFC and the SPRITE+ Network. Participants heard welcoming remarks from Yiannis Theodorou (TBI) and Mark Elliott (SPRITE+) before starting on their digital identity systems policy solutions.📝

Many of our conversations on reforming multilateralism have revolved around institutional changes needed to make organisations like the United Nations fit for the 21st century. However, CFC member Gerselle reminds us that institutional change alone won't solve every problem.👇

Our CFC October challenge will focus on food security in conflict zones. In 2024, nearly 140 million people in 20 countries faced acute food insecurity as a result of conflict. With recent cuts to international aid, the years ahead will continue to look bleak unless we act fast.

Our October discussion continues, with CFC members thinking about changes in preparation and communication that could help ensure food security for civilian populations when conflict breaks out.👇

The blockade of the Gaza aid flotilla is just the most recent example of blocking aid to civilians as a wartime tactic. CFC members are writing policies to address the question: How can we better protect humanitarian corridors to ensure food reaches civilians in conflict zones?

16 October marks #WorldFoodDay as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization. In honour of this day and this anniversary, our CFC challenge this month focuses on food security in conflict zones.
