Having other heroes in the Superman movie kinda clicked for me on a rewatch but I still feel the movie has too much going on and few time to develop it all I'd be satisfied with like +10min of Daily Planet crew at least

The Kents have been dead for over half of Superman's history. There are some great stories with those two alive but there is no need to be so against the idea. Just read some comics.

A lot of the time, the Kents being alive functionally replace the Fortress of Solitude.

One last thing about the movie i wanna say is that... sadly I didnt like this Lex very much. Hoult fucking rocks the role, but besides me not liking this approach on the character very much, I feel he gets the worst lines in the whole movie. That one about envy is specially bad
